KEEPING IT TOGETHER: CONSOLIDATED BOOK INFO FILE

Early on in my self-publishing career, I decided to run some giveaways on LibraryThing. To set up a giveaway, I had to gather several details about my book: ISBN, book description, a short promo blurb with details on how the winners would receive the book, and an author bio.

Because I didn’t want to have to take the time to gather all those bits of data again when I ran the next giveaway, I dumped everything in a file. I was surprised how many times I went back to that file. It became a handy one-stop reference point for info related to the book. Since it was so helpful, I created a Book Details file for each new book. My Scrivener New Project Template that I use to start each new book has a Book Details file already set up. I list everything I can think of about the book so that file will be the only one I need to open when I need information about the book. I now include Keywords, purchase links with affiliate codes, and sample tweets.

A Book Details Template is in the Appendix. Here is an example from Devious, the fifth book in the On the Run series.
